Welcome to the Dishwashers page, this is our guide to buying a dishwasher online in the UK. It covers dishwashers such as slimline, integrated and table top dishwashers and also covers brands such as Bosch, Miele, Smeg, Zanussi, Hotpoint, AEG, Whirlpool, Indesit, Neff and many others.
Dishwashers are a very popular domestic appliance, they wash dishes, glasses and pots and save you having to do the washing up. Dishwashers come in all shapes and sizes, you can get three main sizes which are full size, compact or slimline, slimline are the most popular as they take up less space. Integrated dishwashers are great as they are not visible in the kitchen, they are integrated into the kitchen cabinet and concealed there when the cabinet is not open. For the models that are not integrated you have to choose between the slimline, compact and full size models, this all comes down to what space you have available so make sure you measure up and check the dimensions of the dishwasher before you buy. There are lots of manufacturers that make dishwashers, they include Zanussi, Bosch, Hotpoint, Smeg, Miele, AEG, Indesit, Whirlpool, Neff and many others.

Another popular type of dishwasher is the table top dishwasher, these are great if you do not have space for a full size, compact or slimline dishwasher. These table top dishwashers simply sit on your worktop or where ever else you choose to put them and can hold a small amount of pots and dishes, the table top dishwashers can be either plumbed into the water supply or they can be ran from a tap with a hose.
Dishwashers have lots of useful features, one to look out for is an adjustable basket, this allows for larger items like pots and pans to be accommodated and thoroughly cleaned. You can also get a timer delay on most dishwashers, this enables you to set the dishwasher to come on at a time that suits you, this is useful if you would like the dishwasher to wash the pots while you are at work or in the night to benefit from the cheap electricity. Another very nice feature that some of the dishwashers have is a sensor, this will sense how dirty your pots are and clean them accordingly, ensuring perfect results every time.
An important aspect to look at with dishwashers is their ratings, they are rated from A to G for cleaning performance, energy efficiency and drying performance. These ratings tell you how efficient your dish washer is, the cleaning performance tells you how well the dishwasher removes dirt and grease, the energy efficiency tells you how efficient the dishwasher is at saving electricity and water (and hence lowering your bills) and the drying performance tells you how well the dishwasher dried the pots and how much water there is likely to be left when it has finished.
Most dishwashers also have a series of programmes, these basically wash the pots in a certain way and are very useful. Common programmes available include the quick wash which is for slightly dirty items or for when you don’t have time for a full cycle, the economy wash which uses less water than a normal cycle, the intensive wash which gives the pots a very thorough clean for when you have very dirty pots and the glass programme for giving glasses an extra delicate clean and a sparkling finnish. It is worth having a look to see if the model you choose has these programmes as they are very useful and not all models have all of them.
The other aspects of a dishwasher to consider are the noise it makes and the amount of water that it uses. Modern dishwashers are allot quieter than the old ones, manufacturers state the amount of noise a dishwasher makes in decibels. The amount of water used is important to from an economy point of view, the less it uses the more efficient it will be and the lower your water bills will be.
So there are lots of things to consider when buying a dishwasher, they are very large and heavy items so we recommend that you buy online so that you can have it delivered, if you purchase a dishwasher from a store they will also deliver it but you do not have the advantage of being able to check prices online. Always have a good look around all of the main shops (see the links above) as they often have some cheap special offers, if you shop around and compare all of the cheap deals then you will get a cheap dishwasher easily. The other important thing to consider is the size, do you go for a slimline, compact or full size dishwasher, you simply have to find out how much space you have, an integrated model is also a great option as it will be hidden from view when not in use. Then these is the brands to choose from, they include Smeg, Bosch, Hotpoint, Zanussi, AEG, Miele, Whirlpool, Indesit, Neff and many others with Bosch, Zanussi, Miele, Smeg and Hotpoint being the most popular.
